Random Post #7

Hey you,
Let's dance under the sky so blue,
Till we have no clue,
Of where the world is heading
And what people are expecting.
Let's run away
To a place of our own.
Let's wait, stay there,
Till we have grown,
Into something better
Than what we are,
Someone who can reach the stars.
Let's sing and laugh,
Till we can't breath.
Let's stay in this imaginary place,
Just you and me.
In this place where there are no expectations,
It is our nation,
We are the creators
And what ever we create our creation.
A place where we can start anew
Everything and every moment we wanted to.
A place where we can touch the moon.
Where we can fly high,
Touch the sky,
Sit on clouds ,
Like a dream of white.
Where we can laugh
Till we can't breath.
Where there is peace and harmony.
Hey you,
Let's dance all night
And run away,
When they dim the lights,
To a land in my dreams, far away.

And the world moves in circles..

And the world moves in circles. It's all about relativity I think. While I am stationary to my brother, who's lying on the bed at the moment, I am moving as compared to the running world. Never stopping in between to wait for the other. That is what we have come to.

I fell a sense of pity when I see the fast paced society I live in. Overwhelmed by everyone and yet, also in awe of their somewhat determination. Their determination to fulfill what no one has ever fulfilled. Their determination to become someone or something in this world. I never had such a feeling to be honest. I knew that I couldn't catch up with the fast paced world no matter how hard i tried. So, all I did was lean in my recliner with a cup of coffee and a book in my hand, feet rested on the table upfront and I slowed down. That was the fun of it all, I guess.

As the world speeded, I slowed down. Waited patiently and honestly, I still am. And somehow I feel it's better this way.

"In the sea of faces,
I try to find myself,
Trying to become like everyone else.
But all I see, is the running crowd
And even though of them I am proud,
When I find myself
I see I am elsewhere,
Sitting alone on a chair,
Without a care,
A book in hand,
A smile on my face,
And my mind somewhere."

My small world in the big world

Have you ever taken a walk around your colony and just thought? Stayed quiet the whole time and just observed and noticed how things are? Like how green the leaves look under the light of the lamp post or how there are small insects buzzing around that light like it's the most important thing in the world.
Well that's what I did today. Walked. Just walked.
As I walked I noticed how in just one place I could find all sorts of people. Just one place crammed up with buildings I found a whole new world.
I saw the maids and their children yapping along with no care in the world. i saw those aunty's with the expensive suits and jewellery, dazzling along the sidewalk. I saw the aunty's who had to have their colour of the day straight, they had to wear everything in pink, the shoes, the earrings, the shirts and obviously the shorts. :D
I then saw the sassy diva's who'd just returned home from their party or were going to one wearing one of the shortest clothes possible more like just covering yourself with a napkin!
Then I saw the mean girl wannabes. You know the one that laugh so hard while walking past you to believe that they have the coolest lives and the most socially acceptable too. Yeah right? Who are they kidding?
And then I saw the old people walking, who are sweet and bold enough to go to a child and say "Good morning beta (child) how are you? And then you have the people who're taking a jog or a walk with their earphones in their ears and they have a determined expression on their faces like they are going to achieve something really great.
And me? I don't know where I fit? Maybe I am the wierd girl who thinks too much. Who just has a dazed expression on her face.. Who's thinking just thinking, like she would actually make a difference in the world. :D
And then as I am about to open the door to my house I realise 'this is it, I have a small world in the big world, a mini copy of the larger one, present with me. And when people say that you have to learn to survive in this dog eat dog world well I don't need to learn..beacuse I'm living in the smaller version of it every single day of my life" :3 :D

So again like the post, share it if you think it's worth the share or just email me at niyati.anythingandeverything@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you. :D

"It's not until you lose everything that you are free to do anything."
-Brad Pitt, Fight Club

"No it is not possible" She cried out
"I can't have this disease! I can't even pronounce it!"

Spontaneous Pneumathorax. That's what it was called. A disease related to the lungs. A disease so rare that it only happened to one in a million and she was the one in the the million to have gotten it.

She sat on her hospital bed, in that skimpy hospital gown, she sat dejected. She was just 13 years old, she hadn't lived her life yet and as soon as she got out of the hospital, she couldn't live it either. She was too small to travel the world, too small to live her dreams. She was dependent not independent.

*sigh*

She looked around. Her parents beside her, trying to smile so that she would smile. They were trying to give her some hope. But when she looked at herself, she found there was none left. The pipe coming out of the side of her chest was enough to make her gag and remind her of the operation that was carried out on her. The scary look on her parents faces, the screaming doctor, the light bulb she stared at for hours while the procedure was being carried out.

In an effort to forgot that she silently picked up the T.V. remote from her bedside which had one rose and too many books for her entertainment in this quiet ward. the only space taken by the other hospital bed on which lay a cancer patient. Hope was nowhere to be seen.

Silence enveloped her as she switched on the T.V. and hushed all her thoughts to concentrate on the latest episode of survivor. The irony. It felt like even the T.V. was mocking her.

If you are wondering why I am writing such a sad story or a sad post I just want to say that that girl was me a year back. Never in my life did I want to remember that part of the year but as I started to write posts about things that come into my mind, I realised that this moment in my life was by far the most important. It was because of this disease that I actually started living life and no it's not because I'm going to die any time soon. Not at all! Instead I'm going to live my life completely but nonetheless no matter how cliched it may sound those 2 weeks in the hospital did change the way I looked at everyone and everything.

It was because of that moment did I start this blog and start looking for newer opportunities. That the small things in life started mattering to me. It was because of that experience I am sitting infront of you posting a new random post and smiling while doing so! The optimistic girl writing this would not be here if that incident hadn't happened. And so no matter how common, cliched this message sounds I want to try and inspire you all who're sitting with their heads in their hands! Don't worry! Seriously! If I got of the rare disease and I'm living my life I'm pretty damn sure that you will too get out of everything that's going on your life. If I got out of it you can too!

Why are movies important according to me....

I don't know why I am writing a post on this but I guess I had to share this and ask if I'm not the only one who feels really happy and has a 100 watt smile on their face after watching a romantic comedy.

I just finished watching "Something Borrowed" and I have to tell you in the end when Rachael and Dex walk away into the sunset hand in hand, the smile on my face was the widest it has ever been. : D

I mean when I just watch romantic comedies it just gives me this hope that a happy ending is possible. That yes, I may not get a prince charming who will come riding on his horse and whisk me off my feet and take me away but nonetheless it does give me a hope that a happy ending in my life is possible. :)

That amidst all the difficulties I will face in life, there will be a constant support in my life. I think that's what movies do! For me, when I am not happy with the way things are in life I just sit down and watch a romcom and suddenly everything doesn't seem so bad. It becomes my safe haven amongst my problems. A place where I can just smile and laugh and have no worries. For those 2 or 3 hours I am lost in this world where I am the protagonist and where in the end nothing ever goes wrong. I know it sounds cliched and boring but I guess when you keep on seeing a happy ending you start believing in one too.

We all need hope in our lives and sometimes movies become that strange ray of hope that you always hold on too. Many times I have heard people say that movies affect the mind. It affects the subconscious and is not good for us. But dear readers tell me this whats the harm of watching a romantic comedy? Whats the harm in having a 100 watt smile on your face? Whats the harm in believing there is a happy ending and then struggling for it?

For as long as I can remember whenever I was sad or whenever I was in pain, movies had been a distraction for me and that also in a good way. Whenever I wanted to get distracted from the hurt in my leg and the pain it was causing me, Ace Ventura was always there to distract me from it. To make me laugh and make me forget about the pain.
Whenever I was not in a good mood Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in Just Go With it were there to make me laugh and make me believe that in the end everything turns out just fine. In my lows all thos chick flicks like How to lose a guy in 10 days or breakfast club or Pitch Perfect were there to put a 100 watt smile on my face when no one could. Yes movies are important. They are not only for entertainment for the masses nut are there to give people hope and struggle for happiness.

I am not here implying that all movies are good and they always have positive effects. Movies do have some negative effects but doesn't it also depend on what movie you're watching. i mean obviously if you make a 4 year ols kid watch an action movie he will start behaving violently but at the same time if you make him watch an animated movie or a tom and jerry movie how can he become violent? So you see movies matter just like any other thing in life.

They give you hope, happiness and sometimes strength to fight the wrongs in life.Movies are the common bond between different countries. They have different importance in everyone's life but the thing to observe is they are a part of everyone's life. And an important part too.

How good are movies based on books? Are movies better or books?

Okay, I have read too much on this topic and I've heard people blabbering on about it! Well, I guess it's finally time for me to present my views on this.

First of all. it's based on one question: Do you like to read or watch a movie? this question is the one according to me that defines it all! I mean come on instead of putting your views on someone think. Think that what if someone doesn't like reading books? Then wouldn't the movie be better than the book? Or what if someone likes reading books better than sitting in a theater, with a box full of popcorn in hand and just eating away while Tom Hanks says his dialogues with utmost interest? So you see it's your choice movie or book that matters..

Well that being said What would a person who likes both movies and books do? Then he/she has to either rely on god to give them the better choice or either do "inky pinky ponkey" and decide. So that's where this post comes in. To help you out with a generalized statement. Which is better? The book or the Movie? So i read about it and I thought and had deep conversations and this is the conclusion I have come up with.

The Book. YES THE BOOKS IS ALWAYS BETTER. there are some exceptions to that fact also though. Take Harry Potter Series for example. While some would say that the books are better ( and I wouldn't like to contradict you but hear me out too.) I would like to say it's the movies. Why you ask? Well for the simple reason that I loved to see the spells in action. imagine reading about Malfoy being defeated by Harry and then imagine seeing the spells being used. Isn't the visual better? Another reason is Quidditch!! Quidditch is better when seen than read! and "(The) world Cup scene In Goblet of Fire brings the speed and thrill of the game to life in a way the books don't"said Allan Kronzek, coauthor of the Potter guidebook, The Sorcerer's Companion. For mpre information about this go to http://www.eonline.com/news/210043/five-reasons-the-harry-potter-movies-are-gasp-better-than-the-books.

So you see exceptions are present everywhere in society. Now do you want top know why the books are better than their movie adaptations? Okay. Here's a list to help you out.

The Movie gets Lost In Translation/ Only one interpretation works in the movies.

So when you're reading a book you can have your  own interpretation. There are many ways to interpret a book but there are very very few interpretations of a movie. Infact when a book is read it depends on the reader for interpretation but when you watch a movie it's always the directors interpretation. Just the reason why Stephen King was unhappy with Kubrick’s approach to putting The Shining on the screen.

It's always the way the director imagined it

Much like the first point but still. When you read a book you can envision your own characters. you can imagine how they are, how they look. Well that doesn't happen in the movies! it's always the filmmakers way! Once a filmmaker decides upon settings and characters, we’re limited to seeing the character through their eyes. However million of readers may have different views about the characters appearance. And if the actors or tthe movies don't measure to what you imagined while reading the book, there's grave disappointment. Take The Hunger games for example. Yes the movies were amazing but NOT better than the book!! It was a huge disappointment after the thrill I got from reading the book.

Limited Time

Well it’s not the filmmakers fault in this one. They can’t do anything about the fact that they have to finish the movie in 1.5,2-3 hours. While the writers can go on writing as long as they want. So limited time for storytelling results in cutting of scenes from the book or modification of scenes which is unacceptable by the readers and also sometimes makes the movie confusing if you haven’t read the book. The script writers omit some parts which may be important for the readers. For example the film version of Gone with the Wind, for example, omits the fact that Scarlett O'Hara had two children by her first two husbands, and she really disliked the children.

Detail

Books provide far more details than movies and often you can get a sense of what the main character is really like which is sometimes lost in movies. Also quite often there are more books in a series than films meaning the books not only provide a longer story they always complete the story whereas some film series do a film for the first books and then stop leaving the story unfinished. And sometimes movies are simply worse in comparison to their books, for example the eragon movies was not even half as good as the series of books.

Also, there are cases when you can read a book a 100 times and not get bored while you watch a movie twice and get bored.

All of this being said there are always exceptions to the rule. For example many say and even I believe that the film The Godfather is better than the Mario Puzo novel upon which it is based. To many Godfather fans, film director Francis Ford Coppola significantly improved on the book and took out a lot of material written by Puzo that was not particularly relevant to the main story. Among the other well-known movies that many people consider to be better than the book versions are A Clockwork OrangeOne Flew Over The Cuckoo's NestThe ShiningPsycho and Jaws.
